| We just moved into a house that has several springs on the property that makes the land boggy in spots. The neighbors say that the land can dry out in the middle of summer but is moist the rest of the year. What kind of shrubs should we plant? I prefer something that would attract wildlife. |
| Wildlife are attracted to "edges" - those places where woods and meadow meet, so offer them a mixed planting of shrubs that will give them cover all year long, as well as providing something to snack on: serviceberry (shad), highbush cranberry, hemlock, white cedar, winterberry holly, and dogwoods (pagoda, silky and red osier) all grow well in the conditions you've mentioned.
