The Q&A Archives: fertilizing

Question: My lawn is thin in places. I have fertilized two weeks ago and am wondering if it would help to fertilize again when I overseed. Thanks.

Answer: Don't fertilize your lawn again until next spring. The fertilizer you've already applied will feed the roots of your grass for the next few months. If you apply fertilizer again, you'll risk burning your lawn. The thin areas should be raked free of debris and then reseeded. Keep the seeded areas moist and the grass should germinate in 7-10 days.

Best wishes with your lawn!
