While peonies and hostas are beautiful plants, they have very different growing requirements and therefore won't make good companions. Hostas love shade and moist soils (think woodland setting) and peonies grow best in full sunshine, in rich, well draining soils. I'd plant the peonies in the sunniest site possible and the hostas in the shadiest spot possible. enjoy your garden!
