What could be wrong that our bougainvillea, which has been so beautiful other years, is not blooming?

In Florida bougainvillea should be pruned after the winter bloom, usually in February. Pruning consists of cutting back the lateral shoots of the previous summer's growth to within two buds of the base of the plant. Without this pruning, there will be few blooms. A spring top-dressing with compost, and/or feeding with a dilute, balanced fertilizer, would be a good idea.
