I just moved from southern California to the Dallas area and brought my prized 15 year old boston fern with me. It's about 5' in diameter and is thriving in this humidity. I really want to re-pot it into a much larger container. When's the best time out here to do it?

Boston ferns can be repotted any time of the year. Just choose a pot slightly larger than the current one. I've repotted mine by watering it thoroughly and then laying it on its side and coaxing it out of the old pot. As long as the roots are not damaged too much, your Boston fern probably won't even notice the change.

Best wishes with your fern!
