Hypoestes, the pink polka-dot plant, blooms only rarely, and is best propagated by stem cuttings in the spring. Cut a stem with new growth, remove all but the top two or three leaves, dip the cut end in rooting hormone, and put it in a pot with moistened potting soil. Keep the soil moist and the cutting should root in a few weeks. You'll be able to tell that the cutting has developed roots by the new leaves that develop along the stem. |
