| Roses suffer less transplant shock if they're moved while they're dormant - usually January or February. If you must move them now, do so on an overcast day or late in the afternoon so they don't wilt too much. Roses like rich, moist, loose soil. You can amend the new planting bed with organic matter (do a large area, not just the planting hole). After you've incorporated lots of compost or aged-manure, dig a hole, set a mound of soil in the bottom of the hole and drape the roots over the mound of soil so they fall in a natural way. Then backfill and water in well. The only caution is to make sure the roses are planted at the same soil level as they were growing before. Best wishes with the move! |
