I live in Surprise, Arizona. A friend gave me some Asparagus Fern seeds and I would love to grow them, but am unsure as to when and exactly how to do so. Is this an OK time of year to plant them in containers for my patio, or should I wait till spring? I would appreciate any help on this matter. - Carol Cherry |
Asparagus fern seeds are quite easy to germinate. Start seeds any time of the year by soaking them first in warm water for 24 hours to enhance germination. Sow the seeds on the surface of moistened potting soil and press them down so they are covered by about a half-inch of soil. Keep the soil moist but not soggy wet and the seeds should germinate within 2-4 weeks. Best wishes with your seed starting project! |
