The Q&A Archives: returning vincas

Question: I have 12 pots of vincas in each step, if I replant them into my flowerbed will they return next spring or do I dicard them.

Answer: There are both annual and perennial vincas. The annual vinca (Catharanthus roseus) will die off when the weather turns cold and will not return next year; the perennial vinca (Vinca minor and Vinca major), also called periwinkle, will return next spring if you plant them in your flower bed.
