I planted azaleas in November 2007 and the leaves started to turn pale green in the spring and are now starting to turn a greyish green. I was told not to fertile them the first year, especially after August. Should I do anything to make them healthier? I planted several of these shrubs and would hate to lose them. The soil is mostly sandy and they get full afternoon sun. |
You may need to move your azaleas. Although there are some exceptions, most azaleas prefer growing in shady conditions. Morning sun and afternoon shade would be better for your azaleas than afternoon sunshine. Check the varieties you're growing and if they prefer shade or part shade, move them so they are protected from hot afternoon sunshine. I think you'll be happy with their improvement. |
