What is eating just the petals off of my purple coneflowers, white coneflowers and black eyed susans and how do I control it?

Not many insect pests bother with coneflowers, but mid-summer is prime time for Japanese Beetles in the garden. Check your plants carefully to see if you can find these critters. Or, just wait them out. They're only active for 3-4 weeks during the summer months. Good luck with your coneflowers!
