The Q&A Archives: grass height

Question: When is the time to stop cutting my grass, and at what height should I cut for the last cutting?

Answer: Turfgrass will continue to grow as long as the air and soil temperatures are 40F or above so exactly when you can make your last mowing of the season depends upon the weather. Cut at the normal height - 1 1/2 to 2", depending upon grass type, on a regular basis. When your lawn stops growing and exceeding that height, you can stop mowing. Enjoy the fall weather!
