I want to plant some type of shrub along my property line in the front yard. I want low maintance - what do you suggest?

There are a number of low maintenance shrubs for your zone 8 gardening region. Consider: Dwarf Abelia 'Little Richard'; Height x Width: 2-3' H x 2-3' W;
Exposure: Full sun or partial shade; Bloom Color: White; Bloom Time: Summer through Fall; Water: Low once established.

Abelia 'Ed Goucher'; Size: 6' H x 6' W; Full sun or partial shade; Bloom Color: Lavender-pink; Bloom Time: Summer through Fall; Water: Low once established.
Features: Clusters of lavender-pink bell-flowers are produced in abundance summer thru fall. Upright rounded form. Drought tolerant.

Arborvitae 'Berkman's Golden'; Size: 5-6' H x 3-4' W; Exposure: Full sun or light shade; Bloom Color: Golden foliage; Bloom Time: None ; Water: Low once established ;
Features: Bright golden evergreen foliage all year. Good for corners, low screen, or as a specimen.

Arborvitae 'Emerald Green'; Size: 10-15' H x 4-5' W; Exposure: Full sun or light shade; Bloom Color: None; Bloom Time: None; Water: Low once established;
Features: Conical shape to this evergreen excellent for the corners, as a screen, or specimen.

Southern Indica Azaleas; Size: 6-8' H x 6-8' W; Exposure: Full sun or afternoon shade; Bloom Color: White, Pink, Purple, White/Purple Bi-color; Bloom Time: Mid Spring; Water: Low once established ; Features: Clusters of large flowers on these large growing heat and sun tolerant azalea. Perhaps the best foundation shrub available. Tolerates extreme cold or heat. Very drought tolerant.
