The Q&A Archives: winter weeds.

Question: Can I still put down a premegent to get rid of my winter weeds?

Answer: Pre-emergent herbicides work by keeping weed seeds from germinating. If the weeds have not popped up yet, a pre-emergent will keep them from sprouting. However, if winter weeds have already made an appearance, you'll need to remove them by hoeing or hand pulling before you apply a pre-emergent to keep the next generation from sprouting.
