This is my second year of having a vegtable garden and plan on starting from seeds. I will be using a warming mat and grow lights in my garage.

When is the best time to start this?

Typically, you'd start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks prior to planting outdoors. Check the seed packages - they can be very informative. Some general guidelines for starting seeds indoors:
February
Celery
Leeks
Onions
Early Tomatoes

March
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Chinese Cabbage
Lettuce
Peas

April
Beans
Corn
Cucumbers
Eggplants
Melons
Summer Squash
Swiss Chard

May
Brussels Sprouts
Pumpkins
Winter Squash

Best wishes with your new garden!
