I?m getting ahead-start on spring-cleaning and would love to get rid of the gunk and dirt built-up on the exterior of my house, like my deck ? where do I begin?

Proper maintenance on your deck, like cleaning and coating, and maintaining it, will extend its life, saving you time and money in the long run. When the weather is warm enough and has calmed down from the previous months, assess the condition of your deck and give it a good sweep. For extra cleaning muscle, use a power washer (buy one, or rent from The Home Depot Tool Rental Center) and an oxalic acid-based deck cleaner (plant-friendly, prevents rust, cleans wood and kills mildew) or oxygen bleach (to remove mildew stains) and your deck will spring back to life ? just in time for the season ahead!
