What's the difference between spectabilis bleeding heart and the luxuriant variety, or are they the same thing as far as bloom times and care required?

Dicentra exima 'Luxuiant' is a fringed-type bleeding heart which has, obviously, a more serrated leaf than the spectabilis and flowers into the fall on and off. Dicentra spectabilis is the old fashioned bleeding heart with pink flowers also, but only flowers in early summer and then goes dormant. The care for both is similar.
