When is it best time to prune flowering shrubs?

The best time to prune flowering shrubs is immediately after flowering. If you wait too long after flowering has finished, the shrub may already be forming flower buds for the following year's floral display and you risk inadvertantly cutting them off. So, to be on the safe side, wait until flowering has finished and then prune your shrub.
