I just moved into a new house and the lawn is about 80 percent dead, with bare spots and weeds. Can this lawn be saved with fertilizer, weed control and constant watering?

That is a good start. By next spring you will be more familiar with your lawn and will be able to tell if it is dead because of lack of water or if it really needs to be renovated. Start with the weed control. There are several products available at The Home Depot - try a weed and feed. After the weeds are dead and you have fertilized your lawn, you can rake out the dead areas and reseed this fall. Next spring you should have a healthier, thicker lawn.
