There are many different things you could use as a focal point. Since Japanese gardens have very few flowers, you could add a stone bench, a small garden pond or a small bridge. Alternatively, you could add a mugo pine (Pinus) or other evergreens. A small tree, such as an ornamental cherry or crabapple, might also be a nice touch. You will find outdoor furniture, pond kits, trees and shrubs at The Home Depot.
