The Q&A Archives: Attracting Birds to Yard

Question: What are some steps I can take to attract birds into my yard?

Answer: Watching birds in their natural environment is fun and exciting. Finding the right feeder is the way to go. With such a wide range of feeders to choose from, including tray feeders, hoppers, tube feeders and more, making an informed decision can be tricky. The type you select is largely determined by what kind of birds you wish to attract. For example, tray feeders tend to appeal to juncos, doves, jays, blackbirds and sparrows, while hopper feeders draw in cardinals, chickadees, finches and titmice. Be sure to do a little research to determine what birds are likely to set up house in your region. Ask an associate at The Home Depot to help you find the right fit.
