Can I plant a ficus in full sun? I have a big one in a huge pot, which is now under the palm trees. It has some sun but not in full sun. I would like to move to the patio area. thank you

Ficus can and does grow well in full sun, even in the desert southwest, so it should grow well in full sun in your landscape. The trick is to gradually expose it to more and more sun rather than simply move it from a partially shady spot into a full sun spot. Begin by moving it a few feet away from the shade every couple of days so more of the plant gets more sun for increasing amounts of time. Within a month it should be well adjusted to full sunshine and then you can move it to its permanent spot in the landscape. If you expose it to too much full sun too quickly, it may drop some leaves, but it should recover. Best wishes with your ficus!
