I live in Pottstown, Pa, and I have seen a few yards with bamboo approximately 6 ft or higher used as a privacy wall. Can you tell me the name of bamboo that can live outside in low temps. Also, does Home Depot sell it?
Thanks,
Colleen

Yellowgroove, Phyllostachys aureosulcata, is a very hardy, durable bamboo, as is Phyllostachys aurea (Golden Bamboo). Both grow well in PA. I don't know if your local Home Depot carries bamboo, but a phone call to the garden manager can answer your question. Or, if you're bold enough, you might ask the person growing the bamboo if you can dig a small amount. It grows quite readily from small segments.
