Bamboos are easy to propagate - divide the parent plant into several sections of roots. Or, slice a section of the rootball off an established plant and transplant it where you want bamboo to grow. There are running-type and clumping-type bamboos. If youdon't want your bamboo to take over the yard, be sure to enclose the roots to control the plant. Use sheetmetal or plastic to make a barrier 3-4 feet deep around the bed where you have running bamboo planted. Clumping bamboo is slower to establish and grow and shouldn't be as difficult to control. Bamboo makes a terrific hedge or privacy screen. |
