I have a 9mo big roudy puppy here in Atlanta. The back yard is wooded with ivy at the bottom of the yard and & not much near the house. The dog is churning the ground at the house & bottom of steps, and I can forsee a mudbath soon. Is there anything I that can withstand the dog? Pine straw? Crabgrass?

Wood chips or bark will keep the area from becoming muddy, or you can plant a sturdy ground cover such as Pachysandra. Bermuda grass, once established, knits into a nice mat and should resist puppy paws. Best wishes with your landscape!
