I'm planning on making a property border osing evergreen shrub or tree. What grows well under tall pine trees?

Although there are lots of shade loving shrubs, not all will grow successfully under pines. Pine trees cast dense shade, the soil tends to be acidic because of the dropped needles, and with so many surface roots, shrub roots will have to compete for moisture. With that said, you might try Catawba rhododendrons or Carolina allspice (Calycanthus floridus) or possibly some of the shrub or twig dowoods (such as Cornus racemosa). Be sure to keep your new shrubs watered well as they are establishing their root systems. Best wishes with your landscape!
