The leaves of my diplodenias, in flower boxes, were killed in the recent frosts (despite being covered). Are they still alive (some stems are brittle & snap off), & should I trim them i any way?

You can cut off the winter damage and the plants should recover. Cut back as far as necessary. Now's a good time to prune them. Best wishes with your plants.
