Last fall I went to the coast and picked up many bags of seaweed. I have let it winterover and now I need to know if I should dig it in, or rake it off. The ground has yet to dry out much in Maine and the seaweed is unsightly. Will it be beneficial to leave on the ground until the sun dries it out, dig it in, or take it out? |
Seaweed is great stuff in the garden! It can be left where it is, but if it's piled deeply enough, it may be keeping the soil moist and cool longer than you want. If so, toss it in the compost bin/pile if you have one. If you don't have one, maybe this is the time to start one. Your garden will love you for it! It can also be dug into the soil, but you need to wait until all that wetness is gone. Here in NH I've still got snow in my yard! Oh springtime, please come! |
