The Q&A Archives: Germinating Rosemary Seeds

Question: Can you please give me some directions on how to germinate rosemary seeds?

Answer: Rosemary seeds will take 18-21 days to germinate at 55F degrees. Use new or sterilized seed starting trays and new seed starting mix. Sprinkle the seeds on top of the moistened mix in the tray and press the seeds down with your hand. Lightly cover the seeds with more seed starting mix, then cover the entire tray with plastic wrap to help hold in moisture. As soon as the seeds sprout, remove the plastic wrap and place the trays under a source of artificial light. Keep the light on 14-16 hours each day andturn it off at night. Your seedlings should be ready to transplant outdoors as soon as they've developed two sets of leaves.
