I have a dogwood tree with
branches growing out at a low level. Is this the time of year in Missouri to prune them off? Will it help promote more top
growth? How high from the base should I trip. The tree was planted 6 years ago. Thanks! You are very helpful. Steve

Dogwood trees do not like to be pruned, but if you make your pruning cuts now, during their dormant season, they should tolerate the pruning with no ill effects. Make clean cuts right up to the branch collar so the bark can grow over and heal the wound. Best wishes with your dogwood tree.
