when is the best time of year to prune a birch tree

Birch trees should be pruned in late fall or during the winter months when they are dormant. If you prune in the spring when the sap is flowing, the wounds will take a long time to heal and your trees will be much more attractive to birch boring insects. Prune now or wait until next winter.
