The Q&A Archives: Removing established shrubs

Question: I would like to remove several established shrubs. What is the most economical and efficient way to do this?
Many Thanks.

Answer: Depending on the kinds of shrubs you have and their size, pulling them out and digging out most of the roots should be enough to remove them entirely from your landscape. I find it is easier to work in soil that is slightly damp. For ease in digging, water the area well the night before you plan to excave the plant. By morning the soil will be much easier to dig. Best wishes with your project
