I purchased 4 pygmy palm trees in April to go around my pool. Several of the fronds have turned brown or partially brown. Should I trim the brown fronds off? What causes this and how can I correct it? |
You can safely cut off any brown fronds. If the affected fronds are the lower and older ones, it's natural. If the younger and newer fronds are turning brown, it could indicate cold weather damage or insufficient water. It might also be a sign of transplant shock if you've only recently planted them. Pygmy date palms like lots of water but the soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings. Best wishes with your palms! |
