February is the time to apply a spring pre-emergent, which prevents crab grass, goose grass and other summer weed seeds from sprouting. In March you should fertilize your lawn. Keep your lawn on a regular watering and mowing schedule and it will grow thick and dense enough to crowd out summer weeds. Best wishes with your lawn!
