My broccoli has begun to bolt, and I'd like to harvest some seeds to grow broccoli sprouts. How do I collect the seeds?

First make sure that your broccoli is not a hybrid. Hybrid
seed do not produce a plant exactly like the mother plant.
It might be ineresting, however to save some seed and see exactly what you do get.

After the flowers have died and the seeds are near maturity(truning black), I cut the plant off and place the entire plant in a grocery bag with stalk at top of bag to catch any seed. I hang the bag in the garage until the seed are dry. When I am sure the seeds are dry, I take the bag down and hit it against the floor a time or two to dislodge the seed.

After collecting seed, put them into an air tight container. They keep well in the refrigerator or in a cool place.
