I plant many different fruit and nut trees in plastic tree tube protectors to protect them from rabbits and deer . they also act as a mini-greenhouse and am very satified with the results but sometimes wasps build nests down in the tubes and often the trees die . I would like to know if I can spray Raid into the tree tube without harming the tree or should I perhaps use Sevin dust.

Wasps are beneficial insects so leave the nests alone if you can. In the late fall you can remove the protectors from the trees and shake out the empty wasp nests, if you don't want them there. If your trees are dying, it'ts probably not a resultof a wasps nest being there, but some other problem. It would be best not to use Raid, as the petroleum distillates in the product could injure the tree bark. How about trying just a strong stream of water from the hose, directed at the nest, to dislodgeand destroy it?
