My magnolia tree I planted about 1.5 years ago lost all of its leaves 6 months ago and no new leaves have grown. Can the tree be saved? Should I fertilize more or water less? Any advice. All other magnolias in the neighborhood are full of dark shiny leaves.

Magnolia trees are evergreen so if yours has dropped all its leaves and not produced new ones, it is probably a goner. Drainage is extremely important to magnolias so make sure the site drains quickly if you replant a new tree. Best wishes with your landscape!
