| I would like to know the proper way read botanical names why some are in caps or italizied qoutes etc is there a chart or book that explains this ? |
| There are a couple of resources for you. One is may favorite book called Botany for Gardeners by Brian Capon and the second is Hortus III. Both books explain proper pronunciation and even delve into the association between the botanical names and their definitions. Once you know that alba means white and rosa means rose, you'll be able to figure out the correct horticultural terms for most of the plants you see. Best wishes with your project! |
