The Q&A Archives: pruning

Question: Should the clusters that are at the ends of crepe myrtle branches, be pruned off. If so, when.

Answer: You can prune your crape myrtle after the flowers are spent. Since crape myrtles flower on new wood and pruning encourages new growth, your crape myrtle will bloom again later in the summer. After those flowers are spent, you can prune again to make it look neat and attractive. Enjoy!
