The Q&A Archives: Watering houseplants

Question: How much do I water my houseplants in 1.4 qt containers?

Answer: There is no real schedule involved in watering houseplants. Some plants use more water than others and all use less water in the winter months when they are not growing as fast as they do in the summer months. So the best approach is to water them thoroughly and then wait until the soil dries out slightly before watering again. When the soil is saturated, the pot will feel heavy; when the pot is light, it's time to water.

Best wishes with your houseplants!
