The Q&A Archives: Removing Wasp Nest

Question: Some time between the end of summer and the beginning of winter, a rather large wasp nest appeared in one of our trees, how would I go about removing this? Thank you. Derek Sutton Aurora, Ontario

Answer: If the wasp nest formed last summer, the wasps are all gone (dead) by now. The wasps build new nests each summer, so you don't have to worry about this nest having any more wasps in it. If you see one formed early next summer you can spray an insecticide on the nest early to discourage the wasps. If the nest isn't in a dangerous place, just leave it alone and the wasps will leave you alone..
