| I planted a new lawn last fall and it looks great now, though it hasn't grown enough to require cutting. I read that winter fertilizing is important to promote strong growth and prevent weeds. Should I fertilize my fescue this month, or is it too young? I live in the center of Atlanta. Thanks |
| A winterizer fertilizer should be applied in late November or early December. It helps promote root growth without promoting top growth. It is too late to apply a winterizer now, but you can feed your lawn in April, June and September with a fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK (the 3 numbers on the label). Home Depot usually has the appropriate fertilizer on sale at the time you should apply it in your gardening region so watch the sale ads and purchase your fertilizer when the prices are low.
