What is the best way to trim back tall mature decorative grasses?

For the most part, ornamental grasses can be cut down to ground level in January or February to make room for new growth. Some grasses retain green foliage and rather than cut everything down to ground level, you can groom these plants by combing through them with gloved hands, pulling up as you go. The oldest blades will come off easily but the live blades will remain on the plant. Best wishes with your garden!
