The Q&A Archives: new plantings

Question: What kind of fertilizer do you suggest for my young saplings? We are planting on a property that was cleared 2 1/2 years ago. We have both deciduous and evergreens.

Answer: Newly installed trees should not be fertilized until their roots are established and they are growing well. At that time you can feed with an 8-8-8 fertilizer, in amounts as recommended on the fertilizer label. Evergreen food is just fine for deciduous trees so you don't have to purchase separate fertilizers for each tree type. Best wishes with your new trees~
