We have (had?) a Guava and a Mango tree but they may have died in the freezes this year. What is the cold tolerance of Guava/Mango trees? How do I know if they are really dead? The leaves are clearly brown... |
Guava trees are hardy down to about 29 degrees. An established tree can tolerate frost but young trees are generally killed by it. Wait a month or so before doing anything drastic such as digging and replacing your guava. You may only need to prune away the damage and the tree will produce healthy new growth. Prune it back now and give it 4-5 weeks to show some signs of life. I think it will rebound. |
