We have (had?) a Guava and a Mango tree but they may have died in the freezes this year. What is the cold tolerance of Guava/Mango trees? How do I know if they are really dead? The leaves are clearly brown... |
Mango trees are extremely sensitive to cold weather. Both the leaves and the flowers will die when temperatures are 40F or below. Sometimes the root systems will survive and produce new growth. It is too early to tell just how badly damaged your mango is. I'd prune away the obviously dead plant parts and give it several weeks to show signs of life. If you do not see any new growth by the end of March, it will probably have to be replaced. Let's hope for the best! |
