What you heard may be true. Wild bird seed mixes typically contain White Proso Millet, Black Oil Sunflower, Striped Sunflower, Sunflower Hearts, Cracked Corn, Safflower, Thistle, and Peanut Hearts. If any of these seeds fall to the ground uneaten, they can sprout. But, what you get will depend upon what the seed mixture contains. Some mixtures might have more exotic flower seeds than the standard mix. If so, you may get some exotic flowers. Read the seed mix label to see what it contains so you'll know what might sprout under your birdfeeder. Enjoy!
