My orange tree has defoliated completely which I failed to mention in the inital question. Will it come back by reapplying the insecticidal soap?

Complete defoliation might be caused by insect infestations, or it could be dry air, insufficient water or even low light conditions indoors. If there is no foliage, there's not much point in applying insecticidal soap. Instead, hose the tree off in the shower to discourage insects and insect eggs on the branches and trunk, then water thoroughly and place the tree in a bright and sunny spot. If it is going to produce new foliage, it will do so within 2-3 weeks. If you see no new growth within that time, I'm afraid there isn't much hope for your tree. Wish I had better news for you!
