We live in Southeast Georgia and want to plant something around our deck and in our yard. What bushes and trees will do well in Statesboro GA. What are the pros and cons of Bradford Pear Trees?

There are 250 trees native to Georgia. Here's a short list of medium to large trees:

Black Walnut; Southern Red Oak; Chestnut Oak; Spruce Pine; Eastern Hemlock; Sugar Maple; Eastern Red Cedar; Sugarberry; Green Ash; Swamp Chestnut Oak or Basket Oak ;
Hickory Species; Sweetgum; Laurel Oak; Sycamore; Live Oak; Tulip Poplar or Yellow Poplar; Loblolly Pine; Virginia Pine; Longleaf Pine; Water Oak; Northern Red Oak; Willow Oak; Palmetto Palm or Cabbage Palm; White Ash; Post Oak; White Oak; Red Maple: White Pine ;River Birch ; Yellow Buckeye.

Bradford pear trees grow well in your area and are nice small trees for small yards. Bradford Pear has attractive flowers, but has problems with limb breakage.
