The Q&A Archives: pruning roses-Southern CA

Question: Is it too late to prune? They are beginning to bud.

Answer: Roses never really go dormant in southern California so you can prune anytime between December and February. It is not too late to prune, even though you are beginning to see new growth. Prune now and your plants will replace the lost canes and foliage in just a few weeks. Best wishes with your roses!
